The Father and His Son
Page 2

Many scriptures in the Bible mention both the Father and the Son, so many that there can be no mistaking that they are two separate beings. Although some religions teach that the Father and Son are be one and the same, the scriptures are very clear that they are two individuals. Almighty God the Father, and His Only Begotten Son Jesus the Christ (meaning anointed), possess a special relationship that is described in many verses of the Bible. The two of them work together in perfect unison.  Jesus said that no person can come to him unless the Father draws him (John 6:44), and that no person can come to his Father except by Jesus Christ (John 14:6). We must acknowledge them both in our worship, and recognize the differences between them so that we understand our relationship with them both.

There Are Two

John 6:38  The Father in heaven sent Jesus to earth to do his Father's will.

Matthew 3:16-17  God announced His beloved Son when Jesus was baptized.

John 16:27-28  True followers believe that Jesus came forth from his Father, and returned to his Father.

John 14:24, 28  Jesus himself never claims to be equal with God. He acknowledges His Father as supreme.

1 John 2:22-25 Learn and continue in both the Father and His Son Jesus Christ to obtain the promise of eternal life.

Well, I do not believe in the doctrine of the trinity. I do believe that Jehovah gave Moses the Ten Commandments. Someone tried to tell me that it was Jesus who gave Moses the Ten Commandments based upon Jesus saying in John 14:15 " If ye love me, keep my commandments ". Do you think Jesus said this because he may have been present? Is Jesus talking about the Ten Commandments? I know that Jesus is the Son of God and not Father Jehovah. Thank you for your answer!

Hello again.

I agree with your assesment above of who gave the 10 commandments to Moses.

John 14:15 "If love me, keep my commandments" is not talking about the 10 commandments. The 10 commandments and all of the statutes and sacrifices mentioned by Moses was the law of Moses. It was given to the Jews under the Old Testament (or Covenant). Jesus Christ brought a New Testament (or Covenant).

When Jesus said "If you love me, keep my commandments" he was refering to the words that he taught under the New Testamant. Things like, love Jehovah God will all your might, or to love your neighbor, or to watch the prohecies and to better ourselves as Christians so that we are prepared for his second coming. If someone truly loves Jesus Christ, he/she would do these things the best that they can. Some of the principles of the first 10 commandments apply, like do not kill or commit adultry. However we need to understand that Jesus brought an entirely New Covenant.

If we were to apply Jesus' commandments to the 10 commandments and make it the same as the law of Moses this would be wrong. The law of Moses required the people and priests to make animal sacrifices for repentance of sins. Jesus Christ was the ultimate sacrifice for sins and if we were to put ourselves under that law of Moses we would not be recognizing Christ's sacrifice for us. So you see it is important to understand the message Christ brought in the New Testamant.

I hope that helped and maybe you can pass this on to the person you spoke with.

Hello. Did Jehovah or Jesus give Moses the Ten Commandments? Thx

Hello. Thank you for your question.

According to Exodus 24:12 It was Jehovah who gave the tablets to Moses.

Exodus 24:12 "And the LORD said unto Moses, Come up to me into the mount, and be there: and I will give thee tables of stone, and a law, and commandments which I have written; that thou mayest teach them."

However, some may think that Moses was given the tablets by Jehovah but through an angel. The same reason used when the Israelites went out of Egypt, Jehovah said he would lead them out. However, it was the angel of the Lord that did the actual leading (by Jehovah's command).

1 Corinthians 10:1-4
1 "Moreover, brethren, I would not that ye should be ignorant, how that all our fathers were under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;"

2 "And were all baptized unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;"

3 "And did all eat the same spiritual meat;"

4 "And did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual Rock that followed them: and that Rock was Christ."

So who did Moses see at the mount? Was it Jehovah or Christ, or another angel?

John 1:18
"No man hath seen God at any time, the only begotten Son, which is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared him."

And yet, Moses was shown the hinder parts of God...

Exodus 33:20-23
20 "And he said, Thou canst not see my face: for there shall no man see me, and live."

21 "And the LORD said, Behold, there is a place by me, and thou shalt stand upon a rock:"

22 "And it shall come to pass, while my glory passeth by, that I will put thee in a clift of the rock, and will cover thee with my hand while I pass by:"

23 "And I will take away mine hand, and thou shalt see my back parts: but my face shall not be seen."

My answer to your question is that it was Jehovah who gave the tablets to Moses because of Exodus 24:12. I cannot say for sure how he did it. I would not rule out that Jesus (or Michael the archangel) was present.

I am curious as to what your thought is on this subject.

Thanks.

What color was Jesus? Was he a white Jesus as depicted in art work today?
— Guest User

Don't know what color he was. Probably constistent with the Jews and his mother, Mary. I don't think his color matters. It's what he had to say that matters.

Is Jesus the God of the old testament? Just curious because some teach that there is no trinity and that Jesus and God are seperate individuals, yet they believe that Jesus was the God of the old testament. Do you have any scriptures to clarify? Thank You in advance!

Jesus is the Son of God. Almighty God Jehovah is the God of the old testamant and new testamant. He always was and always is.

Check out our article on the Trinity with some scriptures to support that Christ is the Son of God and Jehovah is His Father at this link

Here is an example of Almighty God declaring His Son in Matthew 3:16-17 from the study Father and Son above this comment page:
"And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him: And lo a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased."
